Stitch Along Wednesday

Morning!  It is back to work week for me...the students don't come until next we are all...

we have two days of workshops...the presenter isn't too bad...but really think it could have been done in one day....and we still have not had enough time to set up our classrooms...ugh!

So, I have worked on projects this week...but alas, do not have pictures....

I've mostly focused on the Sockhead hat...and the test knit, which got put in timeout, as I have an extra two stitches....

How about you this week?  What have you worked on?  Do you have a job where you have to attend never ending PD? (professional development)

as always, please link back..thanks!

Stitch Along Wednesday

Good morning my peeps!!!  It is my last week of summer vacation and I am booked this week!  Today I'll be taking a couple nephews shopping for their belated birthday gifts....should be fun...

I have three projects that have been front and center this week...first up, the Dork socks...almost done with sock 1..these socks took a backseat for awhile...

and then I have two hats...I joined a Sockhead KAL....(I always pronounce this sockHEED in my head)...if you want to join, it's here, until Sept do have to use an indie dyed yarn...that's the only requirement (or self dyed is good)

My yarn is Dizzy Color, one of the Buffy inspired ones from Patrol 1....

And..I'm doing a test knit...
This is a MadColor yarn from a Harry Potter club...

They don't look much different, as it's a lot of K2, P2 ribbing for both...I'm onto the pattern in the test knit, but have 2 more soul draining inches of ribbing on the Sockhead....

So two questions today...what's the best thing you've ever done on vacation?  And/or ..what was a soul draining project for you?

Oh and since there have not been reliable links up on Friday, I'm just going to start doing a Friday linkup...I don't always have an FO, but I'll post the link anyway....AND Ikneadtoknit also has linkups on Wednesdays and Fridays, so check her always, please link back, so people can fins us...thanks!

Stash Saturday

we went for a trip to Northhampton last week....if you don't know, Northhampton is the home of WEBS...I was actually looking for a specific yarn..
The Fibre Company Savannah...for this....
and then I picked up some Madelinetosh to show the Hubs the was Magnolia Leaf...well he put in the basket..then we picked out Daffodil to make a sunflowery inspired shawl....
So gorgeous!!!!

Then I stopped in at Northhampton Wools, while he was in the used music store...
Mrs. Crosby came home with me....

On the way to meet Felicia Day, I stopped at an LYS and well they had some Hedgehogs Fibres..very difficult to get Newsprint came to live with me...

I know I also have some in the mail on their way...and well fair season is coming.....and oh yeah, I picked up some more at the Art Show last week....I found the only booth with yarn in it...
She overdyed yellow onto's from a local farm, Flatland Alpacas.....

I think that is it....I have no will power....I have also started two new projects in the past two for a KAL...Sockhead...and one for a test I am off...a former student is going to study in Germany and today is her goodbye party...toodles...

FO Friday

Good Morning!  Again the people I link to have not put up a link, so I'm going to throw one up...I think I'll just start doing a Friday link if people want one...need to come up with a picture....

So I have two finished objects, but only going to show the crocheted boot cuffs, I need to fix....I'll explain when I blog them...

So here are Those Socks...just a plain vanilla pattern..I wanted the yarn to speak...
I'm going to love these!  They are too warm for now....

They are Zauberball...and yes they match..I made them match.....I'm not sure I could wear mismatched socks.....I absolutely love the gradient effect.....

I started these in February and finished them yesterday....But made many things in between...I am so not a monogamous knitter or crocheter, are you?

Please link back, if you link up...thanks!

I've pretty much been working on a second is a bad night picture...

In the picture, I was on the on the gussets....

Today I am off to the Boston area....going to a book signing by Felicia Day tonight...wohoo.....I also hope to pop into a nearby LYS to check it out....

On Monday I went to WEBS....yep...and left with stuff......had some people tell me I needed therapy...I told them yarn was my therapy....

How about you?  Is yarn your therapy????  I don't have to do anything with it...just squishing it helps!

As always, join up and please link back, so others can find us...thanks!

Sunday in Norway

I already posted about my epic climb up the mountain....Manafossen, if you haven't read it...but before we accidentally climbed that mountain, we visited a couple of yarn outlet stores...

It was a wet, grey day...
Drive through some beautiful scenery, even with the rain.....

First stop...was a Viking outlet....

They also had knitting coffee....but I don't drink coffee, so did not get it...(there was a small cafe attached to this store, but we didn't get anything)
Then we headed back to the Gjestal Outlet...this also had a small cafe attached to it

I normally eat my pancakes with syrup and butter in the morning, but this was like a snack...

I also found it interesting, that the bathroom or toilet doors always seemed to have cool symbols..
After these two stops, we did the mountain climb...and we were done for the was an interesting, exhilarating and exhausting day!

Stash Saturday

Lots of stash to update.....

First of all, I went to three yarn outlet stores in Norway.  Knitting is a way of life there...students learn it in school....and there was yarn available everywhere..even in the grocery stores...

And in a museum gift shop
In a regular store, like our Walmart or Target
In a "tourist" shop
I'll talk about the yarn outlets when I write posts about those days...I didn't take a ton of pictures of them...

So what did I bring home?
4 balls of Drops Air....I have used almost 3 on my shoulder warm and such a lovely color...
Some Viking Nordlys, which I bought at the grocery store...

Some Troll yarn...because Troll yarn!

Incredibly soft!  68% baby alpaca!  and the colors are so subtle, but so gorgeous!
Big, fat, fun yarn!

Again..Camel yarn..78%, because camel yarn....
Alpaca Mohair and Alpaca Silk in a stunning grey-green...OMG!  This will be saved for something special...

How can you not get something called Kitten Mohair?  I don't think any kittens were harmed in the making of it.....
I went back to the "tourist" shop to grab these...they will be my first colorwork..going to make Selbu mittens with them...
Grabbed these in the all-around store....great colors...

Tone gifted these to me before I left......gonna do something with felt....

Then when I got home....
Sparkly rainbows!  Love is Love from Groovy Hues Fibers....
Sock kit from Otterly Adorable Knits and Knitmona....

Yesterday I received
Dia de los Muertos from Desert Vista Dyeworks

We rode tripped around the state yesterday and I stopped at a favorite LYS and picked up this..
with the cowlette pattern.....

and today I received my Random Fandom from Nerd Girl....
God of Thunder (inspired by Thor)

And I think I am set for awhile....although I did order something else the other day...I have no will power....
